Host: Montague Jacques Fromage

Our host this year is an old acquaintance: Montague Jacques Fromage! montyVLAD1

“From full scale genre conventions to intimate cabaret and pub settings, Monty is the creator and international purveyor of SteampunkFunk Bizarre, Victorian Rap and assorted lyrical conundrums. Steampunk Chronicles’ “Person to Watch/2013″, this US based performer mixes patter, Victorian subject matter and danceable funk backbeat. Adding “music hall” audience participation and stand-up comedy, even the “uninitiated” will understand the plight of a steampunk time-traveler caught up in today’s hectic world. The evening’s entertainment is a delicious comedic confection of funk, soul and just plain fun! Monty (and his alter-ego, Victorian rapper LMJ3) has appeared at major Steampunk conventions in the US, UK, DE, NL, FR, and Luxembourg. He has performed, MC’d and shared stages with Steampunk legends Professor Elemental, Abney Park, Voltaire, Unwoman, Frenchy and the Punk; Dale Rowles/BB Blackdog, Metropolis, Gladstone, BirthRite, and a host of other international Steampunk headliners. Major Steampunk venues have included (USA) Steampunk World’s Fair, Teslacon, AnachroCon, SaltCity Steamfest, WickedFaire: UK/EU venues include Alt-Fest, Asylum, Steampunk Summer Solstice, Aetherfest, Emporium Vernesque, Nox Victoriana Judicio as well as a host of upscale pubs, clubs and intimate cabarets.” https://www.facebook.com/montaguejacques.fromage

Raven Preparty

The website of the official Raven Pre-Party is online. Put your dancing boots on and join us for a night of old school goth disco fun! Lessons Learned Premiere

After last years success, this year we will also have a movie theatre in the upstairs room. Laurens van der Veken, filmmaker himself, will show you a selection of old and new movies. The full program will be added in the next few weeks.

Lessons Learned

A very special Dutch premiere (and only showcase!) will be offered with “Lessons learned”, a new puppet short made by Toby Froud (the baby Toby from the famous movie Labyrinth by Jim Henson). Heather Henson, the daughter of Jim Henson, is the executive producer. “Lessons Learned is a live action puppet short film. In the story, the boy is surprised by special treatment on this year’s annual birthday visit with his grandfather. Instead of the regular tea and cake fare, grandfather presents an intriguing gift to the lad. When curiosity gets the best of him, the boy falls into an adventure of other-worldly experiences not intended for him. Where will this journey lead? What lessons will he learn? Lessons Learned is also apart of Heather Hensons Handmade Puppet Dreams series.Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams showcases puppetry in the medium of film by today’s groundbreaking filmmakers and storytellers in this touring film festival series.”

The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing

Old school punk rock. Like, REALLY old school.
Genuine 100% actual Londoners, The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing come from a past which probably never happened via a present they didn’t want. Less steampunk and more “SteamPUNK”, the British four piece mix Anarchy and Anachrony in equal measure. Expect a robot Sid Vicious covering Slayer in an 1877 East End Music Hall: a murky mix of Doctor Who, Doctor Watson and Doctored history. Not for the faint hearted or those of a delicate disposition

Tie your corset and dust your cylinder for their musical rendezvous. Typewriters click and rotors flutter to swing and folk – from romantic ballads to danceable reggae. A trolley with a gramophone carries historical as well as rare electronic instruments everywhere. With their exceptional style the retro-futuristically dressed musicians navigate into bizarre dream worlds. Their stories tell of adventures with their dirigible through space, time and aether. For more information check out their website.
